There
are some basic things you can do before calling a plumber:
- If
your toilet is overflowing, turn the valve off. Try using
a plunger. If this doesn't take care of your problem, give
us a call.
- If you have a leak, give us a call. Sometimes for a minimal
charge, we can help stop the dripping and save water.
- To
preserve your water heater, drain and flush it every 6
months.
- To save energy
and prevent scalding, lower the temperature on your water
heater.
- Before calling Kascade Plumbing for a jammed disposal,
try the reset switch located on the bottom of most disposals.
- To
dress up a kitchen or bath without the cost of remodelling,
have new faucets and cabinet hardware installed.
- To protect outside
faucets from winter freezing, disconnect hoses, shut of
valves inside the building and cover them with foam faucet
covers.
- Septic systems should be inspected and pumped a minimum
of once every three years.
- Manually run your sump pump 2 times a year.
- Most people are comfortable with their hot water set
at 120°F, which is also the new standard that manufacturers
use when pre-setting it at the factory. If you have an
older model, set the thermostat at medium.
- If you smell gas, gather your
family and pets and get out of your home. Call your gas
company to get it checked out immediately!
